Bild

at least 2 hours | all levels of difficulty | Speikboden

From the pirate via ferrata, which is suitable for children from the age of 6, to the “Speikboden” via ferrata for advanced beginners: several via ferratas have been created on the Speikboden, all of which have a large number of surprises in store for you. Conclusion: there is something for everyone.

Schwarzenstein mountain tour
Bild

9.5 h | 19 km | 1,875 m altitude | Difficult | “Stallila”, St. Johann

From the car park at the “Stallila” mountain inn above St. Johann, you first walk along the Rotbachtal to the very rustic Daimerhütte. Here the path becomes steeper and narrower and leads over boulders and glaciers, secured with fixed ropes and climbing aids, up to the new and modern Schwarzensteinhütte at 3,026 metres above sea level. From there the route continues over boulders to the summit of the Schwarzenstein at 3,359 metres. This tour is a highlight of the hiking season for experienced hikers and mountaineers, with a stunning view of the Valle Aurina and the Dolomites.

The Wolfskofel, Lutago’s local mountain
Bild

3.5 h | 5 km | 750 m altitude | Hiking car park Rotbachalm (Lutago) | Route no. 23 & 32

This hike leads to our local mountain, the Wolfskofel. From the car park, the hike first runs along a mountain road, then up a forest path, whereby the forest path is quite steep and covered with roots. The summit, which you will find after 700 metres in altitude, offers an unexpectedly spectacular view over the Valle Aurina.

Trejer Alm & Sonnklar summit
Bild

3 - 4 h | 7.5 km | a brisk 1,450 m altitude | Daimerweg with start near Speikboden valley station

The beautifully landscaped Daimerweg, which starts about 300 m south of the Speikboden valley station, leads quite steeply up and over Trejer See and Trejer Alm to the Sonnklar summit at 2,400 metres. For the way back down to the valley, the Speikboden cable car is ideal – and is also knee-friendly.

Kleiner Nock and panorama trail on the Speikboden
Bild

6.5 h | 16 km | 1,850 m altitude | Intermediate | Route no. 18, 27, 26, 27B

From Lutago it’s a brisk climb towards the Kleiner Nock (a peak of the Speikboden massif). After a strenuous 1,200 metres of altitude difference, you reach the Kleiner Nock. The route now continues over the Grosser Nock to the Speikboden summit at 2,517 m. At the Sonnklarhütte the route continues to the Sonnklar Nock (2,400 m). Then via the Trejer Alm back to the Speikboden Alm at about 2,000 metres. From here, you can take the well-deserved Speikboden cable car back down to the valley. The two sections (ascent to the Kleinen Nock and panorama tour on the Speikboden) can also be separated and only partially walked.

Pojenspitz and Rauchkofel
Bild

6.5 h | 1,230 m altitude | Demanding | Ahornach | Route no. 33 & 17A

From the car park at around 1,600 metres above sea level, the hike leads into the beautiful Pojental. From the car park, the forest path leads up the mountain in serpentines. Steep sections that climb straight up the mountain alternate with leisurely sections. As soon as you have reached the ridge, an impressive ridge hike follows, during which you can reach several peaks with you if you are fit and sure-footed enough.

Dreieckspitze in Reintal
Bild

9 h | 18.6 km | 1,325 m altitude | Rein i. T. | Intermediate to demanding | Route no. 9 & 9A

From the car park behind Rein in Taufers you go over the Knuttenalm to the picturesque Klammlsee. From here, the narrow path branches off, which leads over boulders, steep meadows and often snowfields to the Bärenluegscharte and the Karsee. The route then goes east to the summit structure of the Dreieckspitze, which now has to be scaled over rugged slate blocks. The reward: a stunning view of the East Tyrolean and Valle Aurina mountains.

On the Ahrner Kopf
Bild

9.5 h | 20.5 km | 1,475 m altitude | Prettau | Difficult | Route no. 11, 12A & 12B

From the hiker’s car park in Kasern in the rear Valle Aurina, it’s quite a steep climb to the Rötkreuz. Behind it, the path to the Rötalm rises gently. From the picturesque Rötseen the path leads up to the Lenkjöchlhütte. Now there is a short descent into the Windtal valley, then at a fork in the path to the Vorderes Umbaltörl and over scree and boulders up to the Ahrner Kopf, which by the way is nowhere signposted by name.

Brisk bike tour to the Gruberalm
Bild

20.8 km | 5 h | 900 m altitude | St. Johann

The bike path takes you to St. Johann. At the Kottersteghof crossing, turn into the wide forest road that leads up to the Klausberg mountain station. Here the path becomes a little steeper, then flattens out and then leads down to the Gruberalm. Here you continue across meadows and through forests to the Steinerhöfe farms, then continue left over a field path and continue in the direction of Pojen. There past the Gasthof Roaner and along the old church path down to Sand in Taufers.
